Successful metamorphosis
With her first two albums Britney Spears proved to everyone that throne of Madonna - The Queen Of Pop is in serious danger. And now with her third album simply entitled "Britney" it seems she can also take away the crown from Janet Jackson - The Queen Of R'n'B. After listening to this album I think it's a question of time.
This is expanded edition of this album, which besides all 12 songs from its standard version contains 2 from 3 brilliant bonus tracks from its Japanese edition, 3 very good remixes of album's biggest hits and DVD with her 3 videos, interview and Pepsi's commercial.
This album is a bridge between Spears' pop past and her r'n'b future because besides up-tempo pop songs written and produced by Max Martin, who is responsible for huge success of her previous albums which made her the biggest pop star on Earth, above all it surprises with completely brand new r'n'b sound. All because Britney's new producers Rodney Jerkins and The Neptunes showed her a new way of searches in music and wrote for her almost half of all songs on this album. It caused very successful metamorphosis of her music. Such big pop artists like Justin Timberlake and Dido also wrote some material. And even Spears co-wrote five songs.
All this album is very catchy and even its bonus tracks and b-sides are among the most marvellous things Spears ever did. Especially astonishing "I Run Away" (available only on some of the expanded versions without DVD or on the alternate version with DVD) and "Before The Goodbye", which along with "Cinderella" are definitely some of her best tunes ever. Other great songs are such r'n'b jewels like: "I'm A Slave 4 U", "Lonely", "What It's Like To Be Me" or "Let Me Be" and such pop pearls like: "Bombastic Love", "Overprotected" and beautiful ballad "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman".
Every fan of Spears, Madonna or especially Janet Jackson must have this album. Like always, it's full of great songs and so fresh production. This time you can choose either expanded version with 15 songs (without DVD and remixes but with all brilliant Japanese bonus tracks) or this edition (but either with ballad "I Run Away" or with dance masterpiece "Before The Goodbye"). The best Britney cd up to date!
Well all I have to say is "Britney You Rock". This cd is everything and more. It has the US release plus two extra songs which are not on the original release! The songs are "When I Found You" a great song. And the other songs is "Before The Goodbye" a very good song with an electro/pop beat. The DVD is even better. It includes all of Britney's videos for the album Britney except Boys & I Love Rock 'N' Roll, but it makes up for this by having two other videos in its place. One is the video titled "Lights, Camera, Action" this is actually Britney singing Overprotected the original version featured on the cd. The other video is the making of the world cup pepsi commercial which includes the full song for "Right Now (Taste The Victory)!! This is a must have for a tru BRITNEY FAN! |

no talent no talent no talent
how many times do i listen to a spears song hoping that it might be as cute as the hit me baby song. nope. each of her cds get more and more .... her strange, throaty voice is an annoying attempt to mask her voacally challanged dellema. her songs are sadly put together, poorly sung, and not at all catchy. (macey gray has proved that a person with no vocal talent can still produce interesting and catchy songs) brintney has failed to do so since her first cd back when she was cute and fun. now she is just vulgar and hideously dressed. i am so relieved that her fifteen minutes is almost over. then maybe kelly from american idol can prove that there really is talent out there and britney is void of it. |

Oops! Britney Does it Again
Wow! Britney always finds a way to surprise us! I already had the Britney Album when I decided that I wanted her import cd with the two extra songs, 3 remixes, and dvd section.
the cd- with an r/b / hip hop base, britneys new songs like boys and lonely will blow you away.not to mention the happy beat of anticipating and edgey beat of i love rock and roll to the slow, mello im not a girl. its amazing how diverse this album is.
the bonus songs- I love until i found you--its slow with a fast background beat---i hope more of brits songs are gonna be like this.before the goodbye is a cross between britney and the beat of craig david---very dancable but unoriginal.
the remixes- i love brits darkchild mix of overprotected but the best of the three remixes is the metro mix of not a girl---you wouldnt even know it was the same song, its so different.
the dvd- with all of brits new videos ( exluding boys )plus a version of overprotected where you can see all the dance moves makes this dvd way worth th money. but beware you need a dvd player that can play vcds to make this work--even if the dvd doesnt work, the cd is still worth the money. |

Every Brit fan should have this
If you are a Brit fan, then you should own this CD/DVD. Sure, you already have the 'Britney' album but the bonus stuff are amazing! You know what, even if you're not a Britney fan, you should buy this because the songs are really good...Well not all of them but this is Brit's best album and it's less pop than the others. The best songs on the album are...What it's like to be me:Produced by Wade Robson and background vocals by ex-Justin Timberlake, this song is one of Brit's best. I wish she had released it as a single. Slave 4 U: This song is a very very good song perhaps because it was produced by the Neptunes ;) Lonely: This is anther song that's not too pop and I think this is a nother Neptunes production, I'm not sure. This is another song that should have been a single. Boys: I prefer the remix but its still cool cuz its not too pop and most girls can relate to it."Boys, can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em" I love Rock'n Roll: This song was recorded for her movie and I think it's a pretty good remake. Overprotected [darkchild remix]: Again, this song isn't too pop and it's really cool Not A Girl: Once youi get over the cheesy lyrics, you'll realize how good this song is. Max Martin has done it again! |
