not bad Yes, it's hard to believe someone like me would enjoy Britney Spears ...Baby One More Time album. I guess I just like the bubblegum melodies and the pretty face of Britney. Say what you will about Britney (which is a lot, mostly negative) but her musical talent wasn't nearly as bad as people thought. If it was, I wouldn't like this album after all these years.
Britney has a family now, which means Britney probably won't have the urge to repeat the innocent teenage atmosphere of this album ever again. But remember this album. |

She was born to make us happy. Britney Spears's debut disc ...Baby One More Time has to be one of the best bubble gum, senseless, and fun albums ever by this arrogant, ungrateful pop princess. Forget about what she looks and sounds like now, on her debut she is cool, surprisely good singer, and has the most catchiest songs ever. Standout tracks include: Born to Make you Happy, Sometimes, From the Bottom of my Broken Heart, Thinkin' About You, E-Mail my Heart, and of course that damn ...Baby One More Time. On the song Soda Pop she sounds and belts like Christina Aguilera, who knew? Ok the songwriting is so childish but hey this was popular back then so don't blame me guys! Britney had real potential back then, too bad all that cigarette smoking, late night partying and destructive behavior shot her voice to hell. Oh well at least we can remember how "normal and virginal" she was oh so long ago. Enjoy! |

Engaging debut album Britney Spears became a pop phenomenom in 1998 with her No. 1 debut single "...Baby One More Time." In January 1999 her first album of the same name was released and became one of the top-selling records of all time, and deservedly so. Though Spears does not possess much vocal power, her unique, sexy delivery and trademark growling made her instantly recognizable on radio. ...Baby One More Time is, of course, THE teen pop album of the decade, perhaps even the century; Britney Spears and her many, many promoters and marketing teams definitely did their best work here to make the pop sensation memorable and lasting. From the Grammy-nominated opener "...Baby One More Time," a pop music classic, to the steady groove on "U Drive Me Crazy," to the highly entertaining "Soda Pop" (Spears actually sounds her best on this song) and smooth delivery on "Born To Make You Happy," Britney has delivered a classic of the bubblegum era. Sure, it's nothing introspective or eclectic, but ...Baby One More Time isn't meant to be anything ground breaking or historic, just pure fun, which it is. Despite the many detractors of Spears and her music today (mainly angry that a simple pop star became such a huge, infamous and phenomenal success, rivaling classic acts from decades and decades ago), there is no doubt that ...Baby One More Time is a record that rocked. |

ahhhhhh. This album was released in 1999. And now, seven years later, this album does not even matter. Britney Spears is remembered not for her musical talent but for her inability to parent a child. Great music lasts dozens of years for its complexity, innovation, creativity, and ability to transcend cultures and generations. Great music stirs something inside the listener, and matters to the person who created it. Britney Spears and the ridiculous product that her record companies have created is none of these things. It saddens me to see the number of copies an album such as this sells originally. And yet, the great albums of all times sell thousands of copies years - decades, even - after their release. Music like this, Britney Spears and her peers, disappears into the folds of time. It does not matter. |

The best Last late 1998, a new face appeared on MTV. She was in a schoolgirl uniform and danced aerobics in a high school. Presenting Britney Spears and her album "...Baby One More Time"!
I have this Australian import, with not 11 or 12, but 16 tracks. One hour long! I was amazed! Britney's massive debut is still strong today - her songs are very much loved by fans (I'm one).
1. ...Baby One More Time - Superbly the BEST! It could have been on the #1 spot longer, though. The way she sings, the tune, everything, it ROCKS. The song always reminds me of our time in Narita Airport before flying for Hawaii, though. 10/10
2. (You Drive Me) Crazy - Equally as good as its remix version which became a single. We danced to this song (and the first one) in our dance class when I was in an educational tour. The bell-like sound certainly is on my A-list. Why didn't Britney release this original version? 10/10
3. Sometimes - Beautiful. Can't find words to say, but beautiful. 10/1-
4. Soda Pop - For heaven's sake, why do BABY ONE MORE TIME and B*WITCHED tracks always remind me of my trip to Hawaii, and the game Yoshi's Island? This is one, especially in the bridge part. That's why I love Britney, B*Witched and Yoshi's Island very much. 10/10
5. Born To Make You Happy - Oh what a lovely message. I like the tune. 10/10
6. From the Bottom of My Broken Heart - Britney proves ballads by her are as good as her dance songs. I like everything about the song. It's also her longest. 10/10
7. I Will Be There - It sounds so "Soda Pop". Love it. 10/10
8. I Will Still Love You - Her only duet with a guy (as of May 2006). It's perfect; deserves to be here! 10/10
9. Deep In My Heart - An international track only. Like the previous track, it's very deserving on this album. If only they made it American as well... 10/10
10. Thinkin' About You - Sounds very familiar to me, especially the intro... 10/10
11. E-Mail My Heart - Another ballad, this time piano. She rocks! 9.5/10
12. The Beat Goes On - I think it's a tribute to the original performer of the song, who passed away the same year she debuted. The beat certainly goes on. 9.5/10
13. I'll Never Stop Loving You - This is one of my favorite bonus tracks. The instrument is beautiful, so is her message. 10/10
14. Autumn Goodbye - I like its chorus! 10/10
15. ...Baby One More Time (Davidson Ospina Radio Remix)
16. ...Baby One More Time (Boy Wunder Radio Remix) |

There's a reason why this was one of the greatest sellers of all time. For those of you who don't know, this ranks in the top 100 as one of the greatest selling albums of all time. Right up there with Abbey Road and Dark Side Of The Moon! There's a reason for this.
First let's all learn a new word today: commercialism
Webster's dictionary states that commercialism is the practice of exchanging or selling products between different individuals where each individual is trying to gain something they didn't have before at the expense of losing something they already had. This does work one ways sometimes. For example: In Britany Spears' case record consumers lose their money to Spears and Spears doesn't give anything back in exchange. Or maybe she does? She gives us images of her body which make inperfect looking girls feel like garbage. She gives us paper from the linear notes which we could use to jot down notes on or use as napkins. She gives us talentless images and sounds which make us thankful we have talents and vaules which she clearly lacks.
So why is this such a great selling album. Because people are willing to buy the album and, as a result, get those great things I mentioned in the previous paragraph. And there is a reason why those things are great. Where would we be today without Spears' casual sex preferences encouraging young girls to have all the sex they want and thus come down with AIDS and God knows what else. Where would we be without Spears' MTV videos encouraging us to sit around at home watching them while gaining weight from lack of exercise and eating doritos. All the while she stays fit because of her personal trainers and chefs that she got with our money. And where would we be with out an idol to kiss the feet of and sacrafice animals to. See, with out those great things we would be stuck in a world where people feel good about themselves, are highly motivated, and realise that you don't have to look perfect to be a good person. Thank God we live in this world where everbody is unequal and there is a sharp divide between the rich and beautiful and those who aren't. I don't think are favorite, lovable idol, Britney Spears', would be able to survive in the formerly mentioned world.
......if you believed anything in that second paragraph then this album is for you! As I said before I'm not forcing you to not buy this album, I am just giving reasons why I think its a poor product and is not recommended unless you really like commercialized bubblegum. |

I still like Britney i don't get why so many people don't like her. Britney is an amzing singer and she got talented. That's why she got where she is today. This ablum shows what an early teenager goes through. Like, longing for attention of a boy- ''Baby one more time.'' ''Sometimes'' is a very good ballad. I didn't like it at first, but got used to it. Then, '' You drive me crazy'' i can so relate to this song. the good other ballads are from the bottom of my broken heart. This shows that boys can break a girl's heart and a girl can be very vulnerable. The songs are just amazing. My favorite one is Born to make you happy. For you people who don't think Britney can sing, listen closely to her ballads will you? |

Britney Spears' decent debut Britney Spears is a pop music icon and this record is the one that made her so. Sure, she doesn't have the best singing voice in the business, but that places her in a category all too big right now; rap isn't even sung and hip-hop's biggest stars don't sound like Mariah Carey either. In 1998 one single, the Grammy-nominated smash "...Baby One More Time," made one Louisianan-born girl an international success. Her debut album possesses some great material, such as the aforementioned "...Baby One More Time," "Crazy," "Sometimes," "Born To Make You Happy" and the often forgotten "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart," but sadly the remaining tracks are mostly well-crafted fodder. Of course, Spears has always been more of a singles artist than an album one (save for the incredible delight Oops!...I Did It Again was), and that's sad. Vocally Britney never sounded better than on here, and she saves some typically blah songs like "Soda Pop" by giving a great performance. Regardless of its major flaws in consistency, the incredible success this record brought Britney Spears, and including its five superb pop tunes, make it a 4/5-star record. |
