A Good selection of dance music... Firsty this is a dance album just to make things clear. If you don't like dance music then I suggest you skip this CD. Because this album is club orientated. The 11 tracks are very good I have to admit even though I never liked Britney, but it was a good idea to release this album because it was hard to find some of her remixes. This collection also includes some previous exclusively released material s this is one hottie if you're a hot club goer.
It reminds me of Madonna's effort into the clubs with her "Confessions On A Dancefloor"album as well? I have to admit this albumis not bad nor is it worse. A worthy collection if you don't possess many of her singles. |

Excellent music but beware the software install This CD is really strong, I have had it in my CD player for 3 months nonstop now and have not gotten sick of it yet. The remixes of Toxic, And Then We Kiss, and Breathe On Me, are my favorites, but there aren't any songs that I'd consider duds or that I consistantly skip over. If you are a fan of dancy music with a catchy beat and tune then this is a great CD.
Beware of the software they install if you put the music on your computer. It has a bug that causes a security issue on your computer, which they offer a fix for on Britney's site (www.Britney.com). Aside from the security issue, it is really very annoying that in order to make myself a mixed MP3 CD, I had to install this software, which crashed my normally stable computer four times before I could get all of the songs loaded , which is ridiculous. I don't use an Ipod, but if you do, you won't be able to play this music on it.
So negative stars for the software, and 5 stars for the music itself. I hope they make a B in the Mix part two sans the software, because this one was truly awesome. |

B In The Mix, The Remixes by Britney Spears These remixes are really good
Some better than others
All 11 remixes are exclusive to this cd and can't be found anywhere else
Here is a review of each remix:
Toxic (Peter Rauhofer Reconstruction Mix)- Great intro. I love the beat...
Me Against The Music (Justice Remix)- Never heard a remix like this before. The chorus sounds like it's been played too many times and sounds as if it's skipping. The background music is odd too...and what's that at the beginning of the song? Britney? Saying what?
Touch Of My Hand (Bill Hamel Remix)- I think this is the first time this song has been remixed. I like it but the original is much better.
Breathe On Me (Thin White Duke Mix)- Sexual song. Britney's signature song. Can be another version of the song - more dancier.
I'm A Slave 4 U (Dave Audý Slave Driver Mix)- The intro is good, you can hear what Britney says more clearly. The chorus is great for dancing and jumping around to.
And Then We Kiss (Junkie Xl Remix)- Never heard this song before (till now that is), so for all I know this could be the original. Good song. Love the bridge that follows up to the chorus.
Everytime (Valentin Remix)- Better remix than the remixes on the single.
Early Mornin' (Jason Nevins Remix)- Okay remix. Like the chorus.
Someday (I Will Understand) (Hi Bias Signature Radio Mix)- Like touch of my hand, I like the original much better, and also because I heard the original first.
...BABY One More Time (Davidson Ospina 2005 Mix)- I like the intro and the chorus is addictive.
Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (Hex Hector Club Mix - Edit)- Cheesy intro, and how they take bits and pieces of the song and remix them makes it even more cheesy. For example, in the song Britney says, "I wanna feel the way you feel, c'mon", and they remix "c'mon", so it's like "c'mon...c'mon...c'mon..." Other than that minor annoyance, this remix is pretty good.
Overall this cd is pretty good. However, I strongly suggest you listen to it before purchasing. I failed to do that, so now I lost something from my life that I can never get back...lol.

Justice is well served! When I originally bought this cd, I thought it was gonna collect dust in my car as I was skeptical the value of this cd and in major need of new music; however, give it a day and I was singing to all the songs, even the songs I had never heard before. I especially like "Breathe on Me", "And Then We Kiss", and "Early Mornin'". When I hear the original song on itunes from the original, un-remixed, version I am stunned at how mundane it is compared to the remixed cd. The only thing about this cd that is truly depressing is that the cd is protected under a program that will not allow me to import the songs onto itunes for my use on my ipod. I can only use windows media player and it still gives me difficulties. However, great album all together! |

Worth buying it! My opinion:
I think the "Toxic", "Touch of My Hand", "Breathe on Me", "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know" remixes are the only real remixed songs. All the others are kinda the same (vocally). I do like the other songs, but Toxic is just my favorite.
Rate the Album:
01. Toxic [Peter Rauhofer Reconstruction Mix] - [10/10]
02. Me Against the Music [Justice Remix] - [8.5/10]
03. Touch of My Hand [Bill Hamel Remix] - [9.0/10]
04. Breathe on Me [Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke] - [8.5/10]
05. I'm a Slave 4 U [Dave Audý Slave Driver Mix] - [8.5/10]
06. And Then We Kiss [Junkie Xl Remix] - [8.5/10]
07. Everytime [Valentin Remix] - [8.0/10]
08. Early Mornin' [Jason Nevins Remix] - [7.5/10]
09. Someday (I Will Understand) [Hi-Bias Signature Radio Remix] - [8.0/10]
10. ...Baby One More Time [Davidson Ospina 2005 Remix] - [6.5/10]
11. Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know [Hex Hector Club] - [7.5/10]
I like all the songs a lot, except for the remix of "...Baby One More Time". The beginning sucks, but I like the rest of the song better (when she starts to sing). Toxic is my favorite up-beat song by Britney, and the remix is wonderful too. It's just the best! This is (currently) my top 5 songs of the album, but it changes all the time, except for my #1 & #2:
01. Toxic [Peter Rauhofer Reconstruction Mix]
02. Touch of My Hand [Bill Hamel Remix]
03. I'm a Slave 4 U [Dave Audý Slave Driver Mix]
04. And Then We Kiss [Junkie Xl Remix]
05. Me Against the Music [Justice Remix]
My album average is 8.2/10, very good for just a remix album! So it's surely worth buying! I have it myself too and i listen to it all the time |

Vapid and Weightless I must admit I've taken a turn or two round the dancefloor to some of Britney Spear's many hits. "Toxic" in particular is quite thrilling. But the bottom line here is that while these tracks might pass while twirling around the disco in a drunken haze, with the mighty thump thump thump of a mega watt soundsystem in your ear, they certainly don't retain their energy or charm anywhere else. I honestly don't know who this collection might be geared to - club DJs will already have these mixes and casual fans obviously prefer the original single versions. This sort of disposable pop music is often by definition vapid and weightless (although for a time all the rage) and it seems Ms Spear's inexplicably extended fifteen minutes are just about up. |

The remix album you've been waiting for! This remix CD is awesome. It brings new life to songs that were just "eh" (especially Touch of My Hand, Early Mornin') and rejuvenates the best. Here's a track-by-track breakdown:
1. Toxic (Reconstruction Mix) 6/5: This is the best remix of Toxic I've ever heard. A pounding bass line and great synth match up to Britney's vocals and make one of her best songs even better. You won't find another one like this.
2. Me Against the Music 5/5: This remix gives the song a rock edge that wasn't found on the original. It pounds its way through and everything seems to come together a bit more than the original version. Madonna's vocals aren't as pronounced, which is a great thing as well.
3. Touch of My Hand (Hamel Remix) 6/5: One of In the Zone's weakest songs, Touch of My Hand strived to be something bigger than it was. But it just wasn't catchy. This remix speeds things up and changes the song completely. Using many of the original elements, it sounds like it belongs on the original album. The vocals are mixed up a bit as well. An excellent mix.
4. Breathe on Me 4/5: This remix isn't anything too spectacular. The other remix by the same guy was featured on the GH bonus disc, which was really LOOOOOOONG and boring. This one's a bit faster, but isn't much different from the original version. A good mix, but could have been much better.
5. I'm a Slave 4 U (Slavedriver Mix) 6/5: One of the other best remixes. It's a total reworking of Slave, with a pounding bassline, great new instrumentals and slightly faster vocals. A truly great mix. At just 5 minutes, you'll wish it was longer.
6. And Then We Kiss (Junkie XL Mix) 5/5: While the only version of the song heard, this song is actually really good. A much better one than Someday, this song plays out really well. What the original sounded like is anyone's guess, but this one is definitely a good start.
7. Everytime (Valentin Mix) 4/5: Not one of my favorite Everytime mixes (see the better Hi-Bias mix) it just sounds harsh and it doesn't match up to the vocals like it should. The instruments are a bit too loud and drown out her voice a bit.
8. Someday (Remix) 3/5: I've never cared for this song much, and the remix isn't much better. While I believe it sounds better than the original, the faster beat just isn't enough to make it awesome.
9. Early Mornin' 6/5: This mix has totally changed the song. What was once annoying and always skipped has become a must-hear. The funky guitar always playing in the background really drives the song forward, making it catchy and something you can actually listen to.
10. Baby One More Time (Ospina Mix) 3/5: I've never found a good remix of this song, and this definitely isn't one. It's quite disappointing actually. I have gotten used to it but I wish that it wasn't trying to be so funky. Just a straight remix would be better.
11. Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know 6/5: This remix gave this song new life. While I found the original version slightly annoying and forced, this made it fun and enjoyable. It's an 8-minute song but doesn't feel like it. One of my favorites.
The album is great, but could have been better with the inclusion of some more remixes, such as Stronger, Oops!, Do Somethin', Sometimes, etc. Overall it's a great CD and you won't be disappointed. Get it!!!

An album for Britney fans This is an interesting remix album. Although I am not certain this is the best remix album on the market, it is a strong compilation of unpredictable Britney songs rolled into one. The album offers a lot of variance. The Toxic remix is very uptempo and dancey -but be warned that not all the songs on this album are (so if you are buying it for workout music or dance music you might be disappointed..). However what you will find is a nice combination of Britney's old and new as well as some interesting use of beats from one of her mentors (see if you can find the sample to Madonna's Vogue hidden away in one of the songs). This album is very listener friendly- there is none of the spoken word/ rap infused remixes that you find on some other pop songstresses remix work. In fact, herein Britney's (enhanced) voice get a bit more soulful on some of her tracks. If you are a Britney fan you will love this album . If you are like me, somebody who is probably years older than the average Britney fan (and perhaps a bit shy to admit you are one?), you will find yourself grooving along to this fun album. If you are a critic of studio produced modern pop, then this album won't be for you.
Regarding the issue of harmful software that automatically launches on your computer, I purchased my album from Amazon, I use a Dell PC, and with Itunes I had no problems with the upload of songs nor conversion to MP3 files. |

Pretty good remixes If you have played this cd on your computer, you can go to www.sunncomm/support/sonybmg and there you can uninstall the program from your computer. If you haven't played this cd on your computer, I wouldn't because then it should save you the worry of whether your computer is at risk or not.
As for the remixes, they are all pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the orginal version of "Early Mornin'" but the remix of this song is better than the original song, I think. I love "And then we kiss", that's the song I have listened to the most on the album. "Don't let me be the last to know" is a long remix but every second of it is great. The "Everytime" remix is also very excellent. Sometimes remixes can be really boring but all the remixes on "B in the mix" are fabulous and if you are a true Britney fan, then this is one cd not to be missed. |
